Blog Feature Release – February Week 4
Straight from the oven: Brand new features released this week.
With another week ending, we are yet again sharing all the new features introduced into FieldInsight this week. Let’s take a dive and discover what’s new!
New Timesheet Activity Type: Rest Period
We’ve introduced a new activity type called “Rest Period” to timesheet entries. This activity type is only visible when the setting “Check Time Conflicts” found in Settings > Business > Timesheets > General is enabled. This allows technicians to log entries for rest periods. One key difference from other timesheet entries is that when the check time conflicts setting is enabled, rest periods can overlap with other timesheet entries. This helps avoid unnecessary validation issues while keeping logs accurate.
Default “For this job” filter on Sales tab on a Job page
When working with jobs, we understand how frustrating it can be to constantly change views to the one that matters most to your business. Now, when setting the filter “For this job” in the sales tab on a job page, it will be set as the default across all sales tabs and jobs. This means the default will be preserved even when switching between jobs or navigating to other pages.
Maintenance Report: Scope by Standards Option for Defects
Previously, defects in Maintenance Reports were always filtered by standards. With the new “Scope by Standards” checkbox, you now have the flexibility to choose how defects are displayed. If the checkbox is ticked, defects will be filtered by standards. If unticked, defects will be filtered by assets. This allows you to tailor defect visibility based on your business needs or the specific requirements of a report.
Jobs: Copy only items not yet copied to Billable
Managing billable items in jobs can sometimes lead to mistakes, with items being copied to billable more than once, resulting in duplicated charges. We’ve introduced a feature that ensures previously copied items cannot be copied again. All copied items will now have a checkmark indicating they have already been transferred. If additional items are added later, only those without a checkmark will be copied, preventing accidental duplication on invoices.
Customer Asset ID: New ‘Non-Unique’ Option
A new option called “Non-Unique” has been added to the “Asset Custom ID Scope” list in Settings > Assets & Tests > Assets > General. Selecting this option hides the Custom ID field, allowing assets to be created without requiring a unique identifier. This makes it easier to manage similar assets under the same customer profile.
